The Energy2grow garden was created by trainees as part of their training for employment programme and sited on the factory floor at Energy2.  Thought and consideration was given to the design to ensure that it was environmentally friendly, using recycled products wherever possible and plants that would attract bees.  The final garden included a compost bin and a water butt as well as a solar fountain and children's play area.  Health and Safety was a major factor in the design and trainees learnt a lot about this as the garden grew.

The garden stayed on the factory floor for several weeks but it became obvious that it wasn't the best site for it as the plants weren't flourishing.  It was time to think of a new home for it.

Whitbourne House in Swindon is a care home for people with dementia.  Mark McNeaney and his team had a vision of creating a sensory garden for its residents and welcomed the chance to take over the Energy2grow garden.  It took about a week of hard work to move the garden over, together with tonnes of soil.  Now more hard work is ahead for Whitbourne House as the team and volunteers reconstruct the garden - but they are full of enthusiasm and excitement for the challenge ahead.

Energy2grow will keep an eye on its garden as it grows a few miles away, so please come back for updates.
